Positano is waking up ... before Easter

venerdì 29 marzo 2013

Spring is about to be back, and so is our Blog. We will continue this year to present you with impressions of the season, and will also focus on the surroundings, nature, flora and fauna, architecture, but also on legends, traditons and ancient history. But let us start with some pictures conveying spring impressions from Positano: Though the weather is not yet stable, but signs of spring cannot be mistaken. Here is what you get to see when you drive into Positano in these days with Easter just a few days away... This is a drive along Via Pasitea, down towards Piazza dei Mulini which more or less represents a crossroads. Happy Easter from Positano.
This is an early morning drive, with fig trees slowly growing leaves. In the background you can see the olive trees and their silvery-green leaves

Looking up towards the Chiesa Nuova Rione

The fresh light reen shades of plants and first leaves on the trees ... what looks like creepers on the houses is actually bougainvillea, which will color walls pink and purple with their flowers from late spring to early fall
Porches, flower pots and the characteristically purple, white and pink homes
The sun is coming through the clouds, the air is already soft but very humid
Close-up of the bougainvillea. In protected and sunny places, these plants already grow blossoms (they seem to do so all year round here)
A view towards Praiano

Still dark clouds, but usually these open up for blinding rays of light
A bit later, at 10 am, shops start opening
Enjoying a leisurely breakfast along the road
Steep rocks form a valley where Positano is perched at the foothills and inlet, around a few pebble beaches
Going up again towards Piazza Mulini

Color spots - hydrangeas ... spring is poised to come
