La Spiaggia Grande di Positano

venerdì 2 novembre 2012

This is Positano's main beach, it is the largest and 300 meters long. You can reach down from Positano's main church, Santa Maria Assunta, which is famous for the blue and yellow maiolica motives of its cupola. From the beach it looks that the church is right on it, only separated by colorful fishermen's boats and a handful of white-washed houses. But actually you need to climb a few flights of stairs before reaching the tiny Piazza onto which the church opens.
La chiesa di Santa Maria Assunta, view from Spiaggia Grande. To the left, we are looking upwards to the rioni Fornillo and Chiesa Nuova in the background.
Even though it is autumn, there a quite some people around, taking in the bland sun rays, and actually, now that the crowds on the beach are gone, there are other guests, too, enjoying a calm afternoon ...
